The story as narrated

The moon was high above the quiet house, casting a silver glow on the living room rug. Barnaby, an old golden retriever with floppy ears, let out a long, soft sigh. He rested his heavy chin on his paws, ready for sleep. Then came Luna. She was a tiny black kitten with bright green eyes and far too much energy for midnight. She pounced on Barnaby's tail, batting it with tiny velvet paws. Barnaby didn't bark. He just opened one sleepy brown eye, nudged Luna gently with his wet nose, and pulled her close. Luna gave a tiny yawn. Her purr rumbled like a quiet engine. Curled together in a warm, furry pile, the dog and the cat finally drifted into sweet, peaceful dreams. Goodnight, Barnaby.
