The story as narrated
Maisie loved collecting shells by the sea.
But one sunny morning, something sparkled in the sand.
It was a tiny glass bottle.
And inside... was a rolled-up treasure map!
Maisie carefully opened it.
“X marks the spot!” she whispered.
The first clue led her across some wobbly stepping stones.
Step... step... SPLASH!
On the other side, three colourful parrots squawked from the trees.
“Follow the water!” they called.
Maisie hurried through the jungle until she heard...
WHOOSH!
A beautiful waterfall!
She peeked behind the falling water and discovered a secret path.
It led to a dark little cave.
Maisie took a deep breath and stepped inside.
There, glowing in a beam of golden light, was a tiny treasure chest.
Maisie lifted the lid...
Click!
Inside were sparkling shells, colourful gems and one little golden star.
“Treasure!” Maisie cheered.
But as she looked back at the amazing island she’d explored, Maisie smiled.
The treasure was wonderful...
but finding it had been the best part of all.
Sometimes, the greatest treasure is the adventure you find along the way.
The end.
