The story as narrated

Maya lived in a quiet town where nothing unusual ever happened. One rainy evening, cleaning the attic, she discovered an old silver box. Inside lay a tiny, glowing crystal. Touching it, a voice whispered, “You have one chance to change tomorrow.” The crystal flashed, showing a terrifying vision: a massive storm flooding the town. Maya tried warning everyone, but they ignored her. Undeterred, she gathered her friends and spent the night helping neighbors move their lives to higher ground. The next morning, the storm hit. The river overflowed, but because of Maya, everyone survived. After the rain stopped, she checked the attic. The box was gone, replaced by a note: “Tomorrow is not written. You write it with what you do today.” Three days later, the town was recovering. Walking home, Maya noticed something shining in the river mud. A tiny shard of the crystal. She picked it up, and a cold breeze swept through the trees. The whisper returned. “You changed tomorrow once. But tomorrow is changing again.” The crystal flared, pulling her into a new vision. The town square clock tower was wrapped in eerie blue light, its hands spinning backward. Beneath it stood Maya, a shadowy figure stepping out from behind her. Dropping the crystal, the vision shattered. She looked toward the real clock tower. It showed midnight, yet it was only six in the evening. Maya bolted to find her friends. Whatever gave her the crystal wasn't finished. This time, she had to save tomorrow itself.
